Prayer in school is not a waste of time, the First Amendment is about individual rights. Every one what's to make everything about a religious clauses, it should be more about right and wrong for kids under eighteen years old. Parents have a right to say what church there kids go to out side of school. And if that individual what to say his or her prayer at school it is there First Amendment right to do so. I few minutes to say a prayer or nothing at all to yourself is your First Amendment right each day. When you look at all the single families and kids in trouble we have forget it is not about one group of religious people but about all of us living together. It is all about right and wrong do uni to others as you have others to uni to you. Kids think they have the right to do what ever they what and get by with it. Throwing trash out a car window or leaving all your trash sitting on the table at a park for some one else to clean up. School has had to take out all the things that work for our grandparents and replace them with nothing to help our kids get along in life. Religious people are all the same they just care about helping other people and they just have to practice it more and talk less about it. People do not need to hear about your religious clauses they just need to see it in action. When you say you are a Religious person but you do not take the time to help some one that needs your help you are not really a Religious person at all. So let's stop talking about prayer in school and get on to the real problems in schools like drugs and fighting for no reason at all, just because you do not like the way some one looked at you. We have bigger problems to over come to help the kids of today than this.
The two cases most relating to school prayer are Engel v. Vitale (1962) andAbington Township School District v. Schempp (1963). The first case originated in NY and ruled that the school board could not require students to the recite a prayer they had written. Such required recitation was a form of state-mandated religion. The second case, filed by a Unitarian couple in Philadelphia, ruled that required school-sponsored reading of the Bible or the Lord's prayer was illegal.
Not exactly, they would want people to be able to pray in school, but this country was founded on religious freedom and they would want all religions to be able to pray in school.
They upheld a woman's right to have an abortion They struck down a school prayer law

You are talking to God.
For me, as an atheist, prayer would be a waste of time since I would know that there is no one listening. However, I believe that it is not necessarily a waste of time for believer to pray, since prayer, by itself, may be a source of comfort in times of trouble. This applies equally to the prayers of Christians, Muslims, Hindus and all others.
Yes they are the biggest waste of time according to 350 people out of 400 in my school.
well its is a real waste of time.you know your parents just send you to school so they have time to relax(and not tell you cause they didn't go to school)
Yes,they pray the Zuhr prayer in school and othes in their home.
no it's never a waste of time to learn.
we should save our time. we should not waste oue time.
I remember having school prayers some 60 years ago. It did not mean much to me because it was not explained to me why we had to say them. "That we were all dependent upon God for our blessings". A lot of young folk think that school prayers are a waste of time anyway, because they get little from them, and they are far to worldly. Having school prayers will have some benefit to some of the your people, that is if they have prayer at home with their families. I do not think that the effects will be to great. If a young person has a desire to pray they will do so, whether at school or at home, or in the privacy of their own mind..
This is a very broad question. It depends on your personal beliefs. Some Christians, for example, believe that all prayer is valuable, however, some believe that prayer for material things is a waste of time, or prayer for anything outside of God's will is a waste of time: IE: "Please let me win the lottery" or "Please help me buy a new TV." Generally speaking, Christians don't believe that God is a wish granter sitting in Heaven waiting to grant your every request. However, I would say that if a person believes in the power of prayer, and that if the act of praying helps a person cope with day to day stress, or if it just simply makes a person feel better, in a general sense, it is not a waste of time. But again, it's a matter of personal belief. An atheist would probably say that it is a waste of time, and that since there is no God, you might as well be talking to the wall.
At this time there was very little education to speak of. Vikings were warriors and did not waste their time with petty things like school.
A waste of time.
It is most likely that the headmaster of some schools considers that time spent in prayer would be better spent in learning something. A school is a school not a church. There used to be prayer in school, but then this whole "Politically Correct" thing came along and now you can't pray in school because you might offend someone else ofa different religion. plus the school could get sued for teaching children of a different religion about Christianity and prayer.
