Monte Cassino
A monastery relates to religon by reserving space for prayer. In some religions, for example Buddhism and Catholicism, monks and nuns choose a life of solitude and contemplation. The monastery allows them to devote their life to prayer, study and meditation, without the distractions of the outside world.
The city was named after King Louis IX of France. Laclede named his town to honor King Louis XV's patron Saint---Saint Louis. Louis IX of France was the only French King to become a saint in 1297. He financed and fought in the Seventh and Eighth crusade. Financing was obtained from the Knights Templar because of the Monastery being on the Temple Mount---Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, currently the site of the Dome of the rock a holy site of Islam.
The school was founded by the Jesuits, the Order that was founded by St. Ignatius De Loyola, the only known Saint to have a notarized criminal record in Spain for public brawling and intoxication. At the turn of the Century, in America particularly, the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions were dominated by Protestants and other Christian denominations more hostile to the Papacy. Upon mass migration of Irish to America, the word Catholic became synonymous with Irish.
