I am not sure any president's son died on Mt. Washington. Several presidents lived to see a son die-- Abraham Lincoln lost two young sons, Calvin Coolidge's son also died young... but they were not climbing mountains. Mr. Lincoln's son Eddie died at the age of four, probably from tuberculosis; another son, Willie, died at age 11, probably of typhoid. A third son, Tad lived only to the age of 18 and died of heart disease. Calvin Coolidge's son was also in his teens when he died of blood poisoning. Another president whose sons died was Franklin Pierce-- his young son Frank died at age four, from typhus, and his son Benjamin died in a railroad accident at age 11. (You asked about George Washington, but he and Martha did not have children, so no son of theirs died.)
John Adams and his son John Quincy Adams were US presidents from Mass.
George Washington died at the age of 67 at his home in Mount Vernon, on December 14, 1799. He died of yellow throat (throat infection and pneumonia). He died at 10:00 AM.George Washington was 67 when he died. He died December 14, 1799.
A 'fit of Gout in the head' caused his death. George Washington [his son] died of a throat infection. Lawrence Washington [George's brother] died when George was young. It was George Washington's brother, John Augustine "Jack", who died of "gout in the head", not his father.
Three US Presidents had sons who died during their terms. President Lincoln's son, Willie Lincoln, was the only president's son to die in the White House, in 1862. He was 12 years old. President Coolidge's son, Calvin, died less than a year into his father's presidency, in July, 1924. He was 16 years old. President Kennedy had a son, Patrick, who was born prematurely and died on August 9, 1963. He was only 2 days old.
Mary Ball Washington died on August 25, 1789, at age 81. Historical documents indicate that Mary died of breast cancer. She did live to see her son George inaugurated as President.

The rest of them are not.The sculpture was done between 1927 and 1941 under the supervision of the designer, Gutzon Borglum, and his son Lincoln Borglum.
