Both occurring on April 19th of 1775 as the start of the Revolutionary War, the battles of Lexington and Concord differed in several ways. Separated from Concord by several miles, the town of Lexington witnessed a quick though indecisive victory by British troops very early in the day. Just up the road from Lexington, Concord was the site of a longer battle later in the day: this battle resulted in an American victory, followed by a hot pursuit of the retreating British back to Boston.
The Battle of Lexington occurred first, where 700 British Redcoats were met with an unorganized militia of roughly 70 colonists. The first shot of the US Revolutionary War was fired here, but it is unclear by whom. After the British victory, they marched to Concord, where they were met with a larger, more organized colonial militia and were forced to retreat.

Lexington
"Lexington" was not a team that was playing a game. When the shots were fired several of the 77 men in Concord died on the Lexington green. The British moved on to Concord where the battle at Concord Bridge took place, so there were two different battles. The British basically won the morning in Lexington, but lost the day at Concord and going back to Boston.
