It seems they were very close and spent a lot of time together (huting, etc.) When Jackie died of a fever at age 27, George and Martha informally adopt two of Jackie's four children. One of these children (George's step grandson) was George Washington Parke Custis, who built "Arlington House", which now sits on a hill overlooking Arlington National Cemetery. Unfortunately, history does not record what specific illness he died of, but it seems to have some kind of gastric distress. (In his will he describes himself as "sick and weak, but of sound sense")
