Thomas Hooker disagreed with the Puritans primarily on the issue of church governance and the extent of suffrage. He believed in a more democratic approach, advocating for the idea that the government should be based on the consent of the governed, which contrasted with the Puritan belief in a theocratic system. Hooker also supported the idea that all men, regardless of their church membership, should have the right to vote. This ultimately led him to found the Connecticut Colony, where he implemented these more inclusive principles.

The puritans did not like the Native Americans. They had sort of a standoffish attitude towards them, because they did not put God first. Instead they put survival first. This caused problems in the puritan communities, and were not welcoming to the natives. This was ironic because the puritans left England because of the religious persecution in England. Then they are persecuting others for not being of their faith. The puritans never saw the native's way of living as a good idea. They thought if you live by the Bible and live for god, then if you are meant to survive, you will and if you die from malnutrition or other survival needs God wanted you to die.

The Puritans believed in strict teachings that caused intervention among others. The first teaching is the idea that wealth is a symbol of Godliness. The second teaching refers to the compact theory of government. This was a compact and agreement with God to abide to live by the scripture and in return God promises to bless them with endeavors. The Right of Rebellion was created afterwards which gave permission to members of the colony to get rid of evil leaders and elect good leaders if the governors fail to abide by this agreement. This idea was later added in the Declaration.

Many Puritan leaders held reservations about the Enlightenment, as they viewed its emphasis on reason and scientific inquiry as detracting from spiritual faith. However, some Puritans did engage with Enlightenment ideas and saw potential for compatibility with their religious beliefs. Overall, the relationship between Puritan leaders and the Enlightenment was complex and varied.
The Puritans believed in predestination, which is the idea that God has already determined who will be saved and who will be damned. They also believed in the importance of living a moral and pious life according to strict religious standards.
