All enemies of the greek gods were his enemies. The giants, typhoon, and the titans mainly. He took the worst job since he was the oldest brother, the oldest brother needs to protect his siblings. He is called terrible, which back then meant powerful and not like "you are a terrible person"
So he is strong and quite unselfish for being the god of all gems found in the earth like rubies and gold
