AD stands for Anno Domini and is the dating system used after the birth of Christ in the year 0. All years before that are known as BC or Before Christ. An example is 2016 AD, which is the year we are currently in and every year since the year 0 is an AD year.

Why is there a movement to use BCE and CE insted of BC and AD?

It is all about feelings - political correctness. Political correctness has no place in documenting history. History is about facts, not feelings. The CE reference is fabricated and unnecessarily confounds reference checks for all history in Western Civilization, not to mention it tends to deny and diminish the impact of a figure in history. History should never do that, no matter how distasteful that person or event is (e.g., Hitler, as a person we would like to diminish and forget). Again, history should be recorded FACTS without the filter of feelings. BC and AD are simply the initials that have recorded our time and history for 2 centuries: a method of recording that is found in all historical documents relevant to learning history in Western Civilization. The use of CE is a sign of an altered and unreliable historical record.

What was The year 250 AD is the year 250 BC?

The year 250 AD and 250 BC refer to two different eras in the Gregorian calendar, with AD (Anno Domini) denoting years after the birth of Jesus Christ and BC (Before Christ) denoting years before that event. Specifically, 250 AD is 500 years after 250 BC. The two periods are separated by the transition from BC to AD, with no year zero in between. Thus, they represent different points in history, one in the Common Era and the other in the years preceding it.
