Maryland was the first proprietary colony founded in the New World. The charter for the colony was granted by the King, but in reality the Lord Proprietor had complete authority to administer the colony as he saw fit.
I guess you could say the God was the founder, or creator of Africa. Humans were created in Africa, so they didn't even 'discover' Africa.

Africa To improve upon the above answer. Africa is not a country but a very large continent. I do not know the first country where slaves came from, but most were from western or central Africa. Most probably came from Nigeria.

The Portuguese planted the first maritime colonies in Africa. The Dutch planted the first settled colonies in Africa. A maritime colony is a port city and some surrounding territory, but it is not terribly expansive. (Hong Kong until 1999 would be a good example.) A settled colony is a more typical colony type of which the 13 colonies that became the United States would be a good example.

Kind of. The first colony in modern-day South Africa was the Cape Colony which was owned by the Dutch. The British took the Dutch territory over in 1806 and colonized the rest of South Africa themselves. South Africa gained partial independence in 1910 and full independence in 1931. They retained close ceremonial and economic ties until 1961.
Portugal was the first European country to set up a colony in Africa. Portugal landed on Africa's Gold Coast in 1471 and built the Castle of Elmina, becoming the first European settlement.
