The Rig-Veda is a collection of very old Sanscrit/Hindu sacred prayers and hymns that date back some 2,900 years. They were chanted and passed on orally by the Brahmans. But the names of original authors are unknown.

By about 300 BC they had all been committed to written form.

The Veda's are the oldest holy writings of Hinduism, a religion that is predominant in India.
