The Romans began fighting the Celts primarily to expand their territory and influence in Europe. The Celtic tribes presented a threat to Roman trade routes and stability in the region, prompting military campaigns to subdue them. Additionally, the conquest of Celtic lands was seen as a means to gain resources and wealth, further enhancing Rome's power. The most notable conflicts occurred during the Gallic Wars led by Julius Caesar in the 1st century BCE.
The Celts were/are an ethnic group of people who occupied parts of northern Italy and much of middle Europe. The Celts primarily utilized guerrilla tactics to attack the Romans, leveraging their knowledge of the local terrain to launch surprise ambushes and raids. They often targeted Roman supply lines and smaller detachments, employing swift, mobile warfare to disrupt Roman formations. Additionally, the Celts sometimes formed alliances with other tribes or enemies of Rome to strengthen their resistance against the advancing Roman forces. Despite their fierce resistance, the Celts ultimately struggled against the organized and disciplined Roman legions.
The Celts were seen by the Romans as barbaric and in battle they didn't follow the Roman rules of battle. The Romans generally were worried about the barbarian tribes crossing into Italy. They had tried fighting them on their own turf and knew that they more more than willing to die rather than be slaves or to pay the Romans for allowing them to live.

It is not known. Your question is extremely broad because there were many Celtic groups and the Celts were originally the biggest ethnic grouping in Western Europe. The Romans fought against many of them. They were attacked many times by the Gauls of northern Italy, who were, Celts and then fought them and conquered them in the 3rd century BC. They fought the Gauls of Gallia, who were also Celts, in the Gallic Wars (59-50 BC) when Julius Caesar conquered Gaul and in subsequent Gallic rebellions. Julius Caesar also carried out two expeditions in the southeast of England, which was inhabited by Celts. The Romans fought against the Celtiberians, the Celts of Spain, in the 2nd century BC. They fought against and conquered Noricum (most of Austria and Slovenia) which was inhabited by Celts, in 16 BC. They conquered southern England in 46 AD, Wales between 48 and 79 AD and northern England in 78 AD, all of which were inhabited by Celts. They pushed into Scotland a number of times, but withdrew and the Picts (Celts) of Scotland raided Roman Britain for centuries. As you can see from the above, it would be very difficult to estimate the number of Romans who died in many centuries of fights against Celtic groups.
the Celts wore checkered clothes and thay made it themselfs i know that because i had a Roman assembly and i was a Roman

I assume your talking about ancient Celts the ones in roman times. If so no guns were not invented then if the Celts had a gun they wouldn't have lost so many men to the Romans. MistroJoe

It is thought that the gladiators began their tradition of fighting as a commemoration of a victory of the people of the Italian area of Campania over the Samnites. This "celebration" was a reenactment of the battle with realistic consequences.
The Roman army was the greatest fighting machine that the world had ever seen. Yes, you could say that they were good at fighting.
