To add legitimacy to Romulus' leadership. He claimed to have divine blood and overcame hardships that would have killed most people, which proved divine protection. If he appeared to have the favor of the gods, no one would question or oppose him.

Romulus and Remus are important because they were the twins of the legend of the foundation of Rome.

Romulus was the founder of the city of Rome and its first king. According to the legend the twins disagreed on whether the city should be founded on the Palatine Hill (favoured by Romulus) of the Aventine Hill (favoured by Remus). The brothers resorted to augury (the divination of the omens of the gods) to settle the dispute. Romulus claimed he won, but Remus disagreed. Romulus began building a sacred wall around the Palatine Hill. Remus transgressed it spitefully and Romulus killed him.

Rome started in April 21,753 B.CAlthough the original dates by Roman historians varied between 758 and 728 BC, the "official" date was set as 753 BC. Archaeologists have found the foundations of ancient Rome's first royal house and the fist temple to Vesta in the area of the Roman Forum. and they had been dated to the mid 8th century BC. The earliest evidence of human settlement in the area has been found near the river Tiber and is date to five hundred years earlier. According to legend, Rome was founded by, Romulus. He and his baby twin brother, Romulus, were thrown into the Tiber in a basket. It landed by the Palatine Hill. They were suckled by a she-wolf. They were then found by a shepherd, Faustulus, who raised them together with his wife, Acca Larentia. As adults they decided to found a new city, but had a disagreement. Romulus wanted to found it on the Palatine Hill and Remus wanted to found it on the Aventine Hill. Romulus won the contest and begun to build a sacred wall around his hill. Remus spitefully trespassed and Romulus killed him because of the sacrilegeThe actual foundation of Rome did not involve the construction of a new city. According to Latin and Roman mythology, was Latinus was the first king of the Latins and the son of Faunus (the horned god of the forest, plains and fields) and Marica (a nymph). Why do you think the Romans created a statue to the part of the story where Romulus and Remus were fed by a she-wolf?

If you are referring to the famous Capitoline wolf (a statue of a she-wolf feeding the twins), it has been established that, contrary to what had been previously thought, it was not made in the Roman days. Scientists have discovered that it was made High Middle Ages (between the 11th and 12th centuries). The she-wolf suckling the twins was, and still is, one of the two symbols of Rome. Romulus and Remus were the twins in the legend of the foundation of Rome. Romulus went on to found the city and became its first king. The twins were put to float in the River Tiber in a basket. They landed by the Capitoline Hill and were suckled by a she-wolf. Then they were found by a shepherd who brought them up with his wife. The twins survived thanks to the wolf.

What does lupin mean off of Harry Potter?

Lupus is the name of the wolf constellation in the Southern Hemisphere, also it is the specific name for Canis Lupus the grey wolf. I think Lupus also means wolf in Latin. Lupin is another of Rowlings semi-latin verions of words, (like her spells, they're almost Latin words) Also Lupin's first name is Remus, presumably from the story of Romulus and Remus in Roman legend: Two young boys raised by a she-wolf, who went on to found Rome and became the first Romans.

Should Remus Lupin have died?

No, I don't think it was fair that Remus died. He and Tonks just had a baby and he was really happy.
