Christopher Columbus was declared admiral by King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile, the Catholic Monarchs of Spain. In 1492, they sponsored his expedition across the Atlantic, granting him the title and authority to seek new lands. This support was crucial for Columbus's voyages, ultimately leading to his discovery of the Americas.
