Neanderthals were an extinct species of humans that lived in Europe and parts of Asia. They coexisted with and overlapped in time with early modern humans before eventually going extinct around 40,000 years ago. Neanderthals were known for their robust build and adapted to survive in harsh Ice Age environments.
