Martin Frobisher
Martin Frobisher was an English explorer who wanted find the new world. He was a called a privateer, "a pirate licensed by British government". Martin was born in 1535 in aloft Yorkshire and died on November 15th 1594. He died at an age of 59 years. He was a very disobedient boy when he was small. His father died when he was young, so his mother sent him to live with his uncle. He spent a lot of his childhood working as a trader for his uncle. He was famous for discovering Northeastern Canada, and a famous mapmaker. His first and a major sail was to Baffin Island, Greenland, in 1576. The trip was funded by Queen Elizabeth I after being convinced by him and his friend Sir Humphrey Gilbert. He set sail with three ships and about 39 men, and each ship weighed about 25 tons. Their names were Gabriel, Michael and Pinnace. He actually wanted to find the north west route to Asia, but he finally ended up in Baffin Island after a couple major disasters while sailing. He met and even encountered some of the Natives living over there called the Inuits. This led to a small war which the Europeans easily won. Some problems he had when he set sail one of his three ships collided with another and disappeared. Another problem was he lost his way in the middle of the ocean. When he finally lands at Baffin Island he suffers from the cold. He always was admired by Sir Francis Drake and his expedition to the west Indies. He also accompanied Sir Francis Drake. He died later on in 1594 by being mortally wounded in a battle with the Spanish. He was brought back to Plymouth, England where he essentially died over a very short period of time.
