If the belt breaks on this engine, serious engine damage will occur. The 2.4 L should be changed every 105,000 miles. The 2.5 L V6 should be changed every 60,000 miles. On all of these engines the water pump is driven by the cam belt. Replace the water pump at the same time you replace the cam belt unless you have done so within the last 50,000 miles. You have 90,000 since the last service. So if you have a V6 you are long overdue and on the 4 cylinders, change the belt in 10,000 miles.
