The only thing close enough to answering at least the ethical portion of this, is the discovery of the deplorable working conditions that workers in China have to live with to produce this and many other products. This of course means cheaper prices for us in the U.S. , but as for me, I'm trying to avoid China-made products altogether not only for safety but ethical reasons as well.
