No.

Ordinary tap water will not protect against freezing or corrosion of the cooling system.

If you are diluting antifreeze concentrate (rather than using pre-mixed), only use distilled water in the mix and combine the quantities according to the concentrate instructions.

The impurities in tap water will damage the engine and cooling system in time, where as the anti corrosion and anti freeze properties of an OAT antifreeze will enable the cooling system to function for 1000s of KMs

Can coolant be checked with a volt meter?

if you can read voltage in the water of a radiator , then there is a problem and the water needs to be drained and flushed and new antifreeze installed . if you are using full strength antifreeze, it must be mixed 50/50 with distilled water only. never use tap water in a radiator ! Thanks Jim TAnother viewThere is a specific problem that can be checked with a volt meter, I do this every major service (spring and fall) I check coolant voltage with engine running to engine block and chassis. If you read more than the error level for the meter you have a ground problem and this is grounding through the cooling system and will damage the cooling system. Most likely the radiator

Will salt fresh or tap water evaporate the quickest?

tap water will evaporate the fastest. I know this because i did the experiment for school.

Why is water clean?

Because the water we get is from the reservoir. A reservoir is a reserved lake for tap water and drinking.

What is enhanced water?

"Enhanced water" is a marketing scam. What you want from drinking water is to quench thirst. Anything a bottler can add to water makes it *less* thirst-quenching, not more. If the tap water in your community is safe (and it probably is), save your money. If the tap water isn't safe, drink the cheapest bottled water you can find. "Enhancements" are *ALL* a waste of your money.

Does a cafe have to give free tap water?

Only in the bathroom, where they are required by the Health Dept to have running water for handwashing. (So take your cup, and fill it up.) It's at the managements discretion I would have thought. If all the customers using a cafe wanted free tap water to drink, what's the point of being in business? However, if customers are buying food and other drinks, free tap water is okay.

You just put engine coolant on your 1995 Oldsmobile achieva and the engine coolant light wont turn off?

The coolant level switch on a 95 Achieva has a sticking problem. If you tap the coolant tank near the sensor the light will go out

You found the drain plug but no coolant is coming out of the car?

Assuming there is coolant in the engine the most likely cause is a build up of sediment behind the coolant drain or in the coolant drain tap itself.

What would happen if you put tap water into a water cooled motorbike?

if you put tap water in the bike INSTEAD of coolant, you would run the bike for a few miles, the water would turn into steam, either evaporate or boil over an not cool the bike and you would seize and destroy the engine. If you use it with coolant, like a 50/50 mix, you will probably be fine as long as you are changing your coolant each year. If you are worried about the recommended "distilled" water, do not be too worried. Just be sure that you do not have hard water or anything with softeners or things that could interfere with the cooling system. You also have to worry about the water adding to the corrosive properties of the coolant. Like I said, if you do it, 50/50 with the proper specified coolant, you will be fine as long as you are changing the coolant at the recommended intervals.

What type coolant for Honda goldwing?

Use only Honda Coolant unless you want to replace the water pump which will be damaged if you use any coolant with sliicates in it. Also use distilled water not tap water. Honda sells a premixed coolant for around $5 a quart. Money well spent.

Do you add water to coolant?

Yes, you can add water to coolant, but it's important to use distilled water rather than tap water to avoid minerals that can cause corrosion. Typically, it's best to use a pre-mixed coolant solution or a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water for optimal performance. Always check your vehicle's manual for specific recommendations regarding coolant and water mixtures.

Should Dexcool be mixed with water?

Dexcool, which is an extended-life coolant, should not be mixed with plain water. It is designed to be used with a specific 50/50 mixture of Dexcool and distilled water to ensure optimal performance and prevent corrosion. Mixing it with tap water or other coolants can lead to chemical reactions that may cause engine damage. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations for coolant mixtures.

Should you fill your car radiator with tap water?

Tap water will be fine - but if you live in a country where there are freezing temperatures, you will also need to add antifreeze (in the amount stated on the bottle). Tap water works in a pinch,, but to properly fill your coolant system you should use a 50/50 mixture of Distilled Water and Antifreeze

What is water coolant for a 1991 jeep wrangler live in Spain its very hot does it need to be antifreeze or can you put normal tap water in?

you should only use a 50/50 mix of coolant and water, otherwise corrosion will destroy the insides of the motor

How do you add coolant to a Peugeot 206?

The coolant goes into the expansion tank. If you open the bonnet and look to the back/left as you're looking at it, you'll see a plastic bottle with a screw top lid. DO NOT open the bottle if the engine has been running as it will be under pressure and could eject boiling water under pressure and you risk being scalded. Make sure the engine is cold before you open this bottle. The coolant goes into this bottle (expansion tank) but needs to be filled to about half way. There is a marker on the bottle showing an upper limit and a lower limit, you need to fill it between these marks. Do not overfill as you need to leave enough air in the tank/bottle to allow the coolant to expand when it gets hot. Liquid expands when it gets hot, hence why the tank is called the expansion tank. The type of coolant you need depends upon the age of your vehicle. Consult with a qualified person or parts store to get the right type. Coolant is usually a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. You can buy your own coolant concentrate and mix with water or you can buy it already mixed which is more expensive. You need to use distilled water to mix with the coolant and not water from the tap, since the tap water may contain trace amounts of elements that might be corrosive to the engine.

Does antifreeze help keep your car running cooler?

Yes. The purpose of anti-freeze/coolant in twofold. It keeps the coolant from freezing and keeps the engine coolant from boiling over. Modern engines run at temperatures above the boiling point of water. Anti-freeze helps raise the boiling point above 212 degrees thus preventing overheating. Always add a 50/50 mix of the correct anti-freeze for your application and distilled water. Never use tap water and never run an engine without anti-freeze.

What is coolant mix ratio for Honda ATV?

50/50 mix. 50% correct type antifreeze and 50% distilled water. Do not use tap water.
