Sounds like the battery has gotten weak. If the battery has been replaced recently maybe the alternator isn't charging it up. Some auto parts houses will load test the battery for you and tell you if it is weak. They can also check to see if it is charging the battery while it is running.
This is a classic case of low battery power, check your fan-belt is not loose. If the battery is old, it will need to be replaced. With a relatively new battery, check the electrolyte levels, top up and recharge as required. Also, at this time of year, a cold battery can cause these type of problems, as its Electrolytic processes are temperature critical.
if the battery is completely dead you cant get enought amps thru jumper cables to the starter motor
You could have a problem will the battery or something with the ignition. Try leaving the vehicle off for a bit and trying again later.
Wires connected to the starter incorrectly or defective ignition switch.
with today cars there are several relays which are used to send electricity to certain parts of your electrical system, such as a fuel pump relay, or a starter relay. one thing i tell people to do is have some one try to start your car with the lights on if the lights go off while trying to start the battery is dead . if the lights stay lit with very little dimness then you have a starter problem. Could be loose or dirty battery terminals, bad cable, starter solenoid. load test battery just because it has 12 volts does not mean there is enough amps to turn over check corroded terminals especially side terminals pull them off and pull bolt out and check both sides for corrosion
Start with the basics. Is the battery fully charged? Are the battery post clean and tight. If you answer yes to both of these and the engine will not turn over and you hear nothing, suspect the starter, starter solenoid, or ignition switch is defective.
This is usually caused by a faulty passlock sensor requiring replacement of the ignition lock cylinder. To test: Crank the engine momentarily (like you're trying to start it) then allow the key to return to the on/run position. Your check engine light should be on, and the radio should work, but turn the radio off if it's on, because you need to keep the battery charged. Wait fifteen to seventeen minutes, then shut the key off and remove it. Then wait fifteen seconds (or longer) and start the engine. If it starts, you need a new lock cylinder. With the engine still running, press the key straight in. If the car stalls, you need an ignition switch also.

My 2002 GMC Envoy won't start,no lights come on when trying to jump start the battery. And my key won't remove from the ignition. What's should i do?
You will have to buy battery powered Christmas lights.
Maybe flat battery?
Possibly defective ignition switch or starter.
A mechanism that locks the steering wheel if the ignition switch is not in the "run" position, preventing someone that is trying to steal the car by hot wiring the ignition from driving the car.
Usually if there is no spark when trying to start a all terrain vehicle the battery is dead. Check the battery terminals or try charging the battery.
Well you should charge the battery. Often times the battery will recharge itself if you alow it to sit without trying to crank it again.
have you checked the ignition, just had the same on our Renault van, after starting the vehicle the ignition still stays as if you are trying to crank instead of the key returning, automatically shutting off the need for the alternator resulting in the alternator staying on burning out and drainig battery
To reset the ABS and brake lights on a 2002 Toyota MR2, trying disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. A Toyota dealer can also reset the lights.
Jumper Cables. If your battery has died, you may be able to use jumper cables to jump start it from some good Samaritan_Ü_s vehicle. If you can safely use jumper cables on your vehicle, make sure that the battery on the good Samaritan_Ü_s vehicle has at least as much voltage as your own.
check the battery conections they might be loose or even the starter conections if that doesn't work charge your battery first before trying again
