I don't know the definitive answer to this. I do know that my husband's father was named Samuel Coleman Younger Jackson. He was born and raised in Missouri, probably born around 1905 to 1910, and spending most of his years on a farm outside Centralia, Missouri, where Jesse James and Wild Bill Anderson's men slaughtered dozens of unarmed men during the Civil War. Through the years, I heard that my former father-in-law was named after the outlaw, but I never knew the story. There's a speck in my mind that someone said his mother revered the outlaw and was some sort of relative, but I can't be sure. There's a small museum of sorts in Centralia, Missouri, that might have some type of information. I live on the west coast and have for 50 years so I won't be going back there anytime soon. I grew up and graduated from high school in Mexico, Missouri, which is 14 miles from Centralia.
