Many people encouraged Georgia to paint. It started when she was a young girl with her mother making sure that Georgia and her sisters had the opportunity to study art and music. Next her teachers throughout her life gave her excellent instructions and helped her to develop her skills as she went to schools in Sun Prairie and Madison, Wisconsin; Chatham Academy in Virginia; The Art Institute of Chicago; the Art Student League in New York; and additional colleges in Virginia. When she met Alfred Stieglitz he encouraged her to continue to create her own style of art.
