no,but you need to loosen it up or take it off to put it back on.
The 1997 Chevy crankshaft sensor can be found on the back of the engine. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to access the crankshaft sensor.
The water pump runs on the timing belt. You have to take the timing cover off, remove the belt and then remove the water pump. If you reuse the timing belt, mark the belt with a spot of paint at the camshaft and crankshaft so that you can replace it and have the engine in time. If you need to replace the belt, make sure the engine is at top dead center on the timing mark before you remove the belt.
The timing chain cover on you 4 cylinder Saturn is ALSO the oil pump, so it's a significant part of the engine. To remove the cover/pump:Jack up the front of the vehicle and put it on jack stands or other safe supports. Never climb under a vehicle that is not safely supported and never trust a jack.Remove the right side (passenger side) tire.Remove the mud shield to expose the pulley end of the engine.Remove the serpentine belt.Remove the dampener pulley (that's the pulley that drives the serpentine belt)Remove any peripherals that interfere with removing the cover.Support the engine then remove the upper passenger side engine mount.Remove the camshaft cover.NOW you can finally get to the timing chain cover.Note that the Saturn 4 cylinder engines (1.9 either the single cam or dual cam) used an oil bath timing chain rather than a timing belt, and generally, if the engine has been properly maintained, there is no need to replace the timing chain until it's time to rebuild the engine.
This is actually one of the most difficult water pumps to remove in any vehicle. You will need access to the front of the engine which will mean taking out the radiator and shroud. You need to remove the main crank pulley and then the cover behind it. -You need quite a few special tools to do this . Definitely NOT a job for an amateur. The only way to know if it is a three or six bolt is to remove the timing cover and look.
Not likely. Most timing chains never wear out, and on most engines you do not have to touch the chain to remove the cylinder head.
In order to replace a timing chain for a 2003 Chevy Cavalier, a person will need remove the oil pan, crankshaft pulley and hub, timing cover bolts, and timing cover. Then the timing cover gasket, timing cover and bolts, crankshaft pulley, and oil pan will need to be installed.
remove alternator, powersteering pump ,harmonic balancer ,and waterpump, the timing chain cover is now ready to come off also need to remove oil pan .timing chain is under cover
The 1987 Chevrolet Nova timing belt is located on the front of the engine. You will need to remove the engine cover in order to see the timing belt.
The 1993 Chevy Lumina 3.1 liter engine timing belt can be found on the front of the engine. You will need to remove the front engine cover in order to access the timing belt.
You must remove the crankshaft pulley (19mm socket) and then the timing cover but it appears to need the engine jacked up, to remove the front to frame mount to get the new belt in.
Do you mean the timing chain? You'll need to pull everything in front of the timing chain cover, remove the timing chain, remove the bolts that hold the sprockets and slide the sprockets off the camshaft and the crankshaft.
You will need to remove the fan and the water pump. You may have to remove the radiator to be able to have room to remove the balancer. Remove the bolt in the center of the crankshaft. Using a puller , pull off the balancer. Remove the bolts surrounding the timing. Pry the timing cover from the block. I do not know your reason for doing this but if you are wanting to remove the seal you DO NOT have to remove the timing cover.
you need to remove the timing cover and make sure the cam is pointed to 3 o clock and the crank gear has a small 0 on the timing gear that has to be pointed at 12 o clock
No.
You'll need to take the harmonic balancer off and remove the timing cover to see it. Often you need to remove the timing belt to get it out.
I am in a bind, I need to remove lower timing belt cover of 2005 Honda Pilot, there is a bolt (10mm) at the end of timing cover (1 o'clock) right under front camshaft pulley, there is only one serpentine belt for for the engine, the serpentine belt is removed, by pushing the belt adjuster, now that belt adjuster is right in front of the 10 mm bolt that holds lower timing belt cover, do I need to remove that in order to remove cover and bolt? I have tried but its not coming off?
First you need to support the engine from underneath, so you can remove the motor support right above the cover you want to remove. Remove serpentine belt, tensioner and this should give you enough room to remove the timing belt cover.
