His neighbours look down upon Okonkwo for the sacrilege, and also for not being outwardly repentant, as they think he is not genuinely repenting.

If that were to happen to me, i would try to be around him more, and think of the things he would want to do. then i would invite the family, including him and see if he comes. if he does,then be nice about everything. if it is fishing, and he cooks the fish, offer to cook the fish for him this time! try it!

I think Okonkwo was a noble man, and an archetype of the proud warrior. It is indeed saddening to see him suffer, but one cannot help but think that his suffering was caused by his own hands. I feel if he had lived a more self-reflective life, he might have been able to not 'escape' the shadow of his father, but rather accept it. If he could realize by himself that he was a different man than his father, and that who his father was shouldn't affect him, then he might have had a better life.
Is Romanticism the opposite of Realism in art?
yes actually I think the existence of 'Realism' is questionable, if you look at those novels that were catogrized as 'Realism' they basicly all have romantic features.
