Release the tensioner in the centre of the belt, and see what happens!
If it's a 1.3 it has a timing chain as it's an overhead valve engine. If it's a 1.25 or 1.4 it's a belt. You will not have to renew the chain at any time unless it breaks and in 30 yrs I've never had to replace one. The 1.25 should have the belt renewed at 100,000miles or 10 years whichever comes first.
It will cost you $0.00, due to the fact that a Ford F-150 does not have a timing belt, it has a chain that requires no maintenance.

The cam belt, or timing belt on a 1.6 Ford Fiesta Zetec S is a belt that does not have to be changed unless there are problems. This is one part of the motor that should be left alone unless, the vehicle jumps time. The cam belt can be inspected through the removal of an inspection plate. If the belt is not showing any signs of wear, it should be fine for over 100,000 miles or even the life of the vehicle.
