First of all, you will have to pull the steering wheel with a puller suited for the job,
when you have the wheel off, turn the key to the on position, then using a small Phillips screwdriver, press the pin located on the cylinder lock housing, the key and lock
should pull out, if not , slightly wiggle the lock back and forth until it comes out. Replacement will run about 7-12.00$, The electrical ignition switch about 12-27.00$..
first i would check your coil, if its good, check your ignition switch.
when you turn your key and you only hear humming noise, the problem will most likely be that the starter is not engaging the fly wheel, its turning but is not sliding forward to do its job. have the starter check.
you pull the steering wheel off and underneath you will see a hole with a pin in it. turn your switch to the run position and push the pin up and it should come out I have a 83 f-150 and replaced all the keys in it.
