Recall that the soil is defined as the uppermost layer of the earth's surface. Common sense clicks that the earth's surfaces are not the same everywhere on the earth and as such it naturally follows that all soils on DIFFERENT earth surfaces will most definitely be DIFFERENT.

There are Highlands, lowlands, plateaus, mountains and plains... these different surfaces possess different soils due to the fact of how the ground particles are distributed.

Soils differ also due to a major factor of the weather these earth surfaces are exposed to. different climates have different land covers. in the tropical areas of Africa, where there is ample rainfall as well as high humidity, it is expected to find a lot of forest cover or ever green vegetation. this is true but the kind of earth surface as i explained above matters as well. the mountains have even and less steep areas than other areas on that same mountain so the soils shouldn't be expected to be the same (topography). On the far side of things, deserts are mostly sandy due to the climate: heat and lack of rainfall.

i could go on but try researching... it will be easier and less confusing. Just Google climates of the world and read up on these different climates. You can deduct from your findings the different kinds of soils. Also try googling the factors that affect soil formation, that should help as well.
