Adding blue pigment, a bit at a time will bring orange paint toward the brown colour, you may have to contiue to adjust by adding more red or more yellow, depending on the original orange and the blue you are using.

The question is too vague to answer well. It depends on how dark you want to make it. You would add tints (such as burnt umber or black) to darken the yellow, but you will have to know how much tint is already in it, and how much you will need to add to make it the color that you want.....there is only so much tint that you can put in the paint without having detrimental effects. If you want a darker color, often the "base" that the color will be mixed from will be a darker base....not white.

You will probably be better off to just buy the color that you like.

The secrets are color, and the proportions of the different colors in the mix.

First it is good to remind ourselves of some basic color mixes:

Blue + yellow = green

Green + white = light green

-------------

Yellow + red = orange

Orange + white = peach (light orange)

-------------------

Orange + a tiny bit of blue = brown. (Blue is a very 'strong' color. So don't use too much here.)

Brown + white = light brown

--------------------------

RECAP

Yellow and blue = green

Green + white = light green

-------------------------------------

So, with light green you've already got Y,B,W

Brown is Y,R,W, + a tiny bit of Blue, so lets call the mix Y,R,W,b

You have already got Y,B,W

So basically you need some R, but not much!

However, because you've already got a LOT of Blue (too much!), you will have to increase the proportions of the other colors instead, i.e. the Y, R and W.

So, instead of adding red, you could add light orange. This will provide the extra yellow, red and white you need.

Alternatively you could slowly add a little more Y+R until it looks brown, then lighten it with white to make the light brown tint you want.

Yellow and red will give you orange...orange and dark blue will give you brown. Add white to make brown as light as you want it.

As a general rule, if you mix together all of the spare, leftover paint cans from several other jobs, you'll come up with some shade of brown.
