The emblems (badges) are usually stuck onto a car using essentially double-sided tape. Spray behind the emblem with some sort of sticker remover like Goo Gone (which is available in a spray Gel). Let it soak in for a few minutes. Using a length of dental floss, begin removing the emblem using a back and forth motion. The dental floss should cut right through the adhesive and the emblem should come right off, leaving behind a lot of adhesive stuck to the car.
Spray the remnants with Goo Gone again and let it soak in for a few minutes. Using ONLY your finger nails, gently remove the adhesive from the car. Clean up the mess using a car approved cleaner, like dish soap.
DO NOT Remove a badge on a car that has been parked in the sun for a year. The paint has faded and you will be left with a shadow of your badge and the shame of not doing it sooner. If you are going to debadge an older car, be prepared to re-paint the area.
DO NOT Use sharp objects like razor blades or anything metal. A plastic spatula may be okay, but I highly suggest you stick to the soft malleable starch at the end of each of your digits (finger nails).
DO NOT use paint thinner, WD-40, or anything that might possible affect the surface of your car. nail polish remover can be used in a pinch, but be sure not to leave it sit on the surface for too long.
DO NOT try to do this on a cold winter day. Let the car warm up in the sun to make the job easier. If you have no choice, use a hair dryer to warm up the surface of the car.
