There are several types of harmonic balancers but the most common type is the elastomeric type.
With an elastomeric type balancer, a rotating mass is connectied with a rubbery substance acting as the connection. The rubbery stuff is bouncy and is calibrated in such a manner that the rebound force through the rubber (elastomer) is timed to counter the variations in speed of the crankshaft.
Look at it this way, the crankshaft of a reciprocating engine changes speed in a a construction of overlapping sine waves as it accelerated during any power stroke and decelerated during all other strokes.
This produces a compression wave (like sound) which is slowed through the elasomer (rubber) and them bounced back (echoed) by the rotating mass (typically a belt drive pulley). As the wave returns to the crankshaft, it produces a destructive interference effect to stabilize cranshaft rotation speed and thus reduced crankshaft speed variation.
On any motor, the harmonic balancer is on the front of the crankshaft. It is what the pulley is bolted to.
In most cases the crank pulley bolts to the balancer so the crank pulley would not be the same as the harmonic balancer.
Check your timing belt, harmonic balancer and the either two or three belts that connect to the harmonic balancer
oil leaking from the front of the engine. harmonic balancer doesnt have a seal it does however have a rubber bushing in it this is to take out the virations caused by engine running, hence the name harmonic balancer . you may however have a bad front crankshaft seal that is bad this will leak oil at bottom front of engine so if you are talking bout rubber in harmonic balancer, you will get ruff vibrations from engine when running, also can throw the timing out ANSWER you will have a MAJOR oil leak.....
yes when its broken!
Not recommended.
With a harmonic balancer puller.
yes
Harmonic balancer replace
do the harmonic balancer have a seal for anti-freezer
The harmonic balancer is located on the front of the crankshaft
A bad harmonic balancer can cause a knocking noise. The harmonic balancer doesn't actually produce the noise, but it can cause the noise in the engine.
The harmonic balancer tool is made especially to remove the balancer. Some stores will loan you the tool with a deposit.
how to replace harmonic balancer on a 2000 infiniti i30
hay i am jitendra haldar can you Harmonic progression explane with examples
The balancer is attached to a flywheel that drives the serpentine belt for the water pump, power steering, etc. If harmonic balancer doesn't work, belt won't run, and eventually, neither will the car.
On any motor, the harmonic balancer is on the front of the crankshaft. It is what the pulley is bolted to.
