Once it has been used there is no way to "re-use" it. If there is some paint in the can unused, it will last for a few months before hardening or the gas escapes.

If it is a good paint then it will last for about 10 years, if the paint is not that good then it will last for just about two moonsoons. All depends upon the paint used for there purpose.
