after it has healed which is usually 3-4 weeks from the date it was pierced.
No! Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption for 24-48 hours after the piercing has been done. Smoking will dry out the area too much and also could infect it. As soon as my tongue was pierced i was straight out the front and had a cigerette. My piecing never dried out or got infected. Its not that it will dry out your piercing. I does not do that at all. The nicotine in cigarettes slows down the healing process, causing the piercing to take longer to heal. It is the same concept with alcohol -- slows down the healing process. Some people still smoke and drink and are okay, but yet for other people their piercing may never heal if they continue to do it constantly.
Yeh you can remove it, i took my tragus piercing out after 2 weeks and but it back in about 2 hours later and it was fine. The longer it's had to heal the longer you can leave it out. :)
Yees, even though people tell you not to- you can. I changed mine after a week and I've had no problems or pain! just make sure you chase the ring your taking out with the ring your putting in and put some neosporin on the ends of your jewlery, that way it goes through quick and easy (:
Probably only a few minutes. A piercing that new has barely even started healing so the jewelry is the only thing keeping it open. Theres no reason why you should have to take it out. If you knew that you'd have to remove it for work or something so soon after getting it, you shouldn't have gotten it at all. Go to your piercer and see if they can get you some clear glass retainers instead.
the word soon is an adverb
Seek professional medical attention as soon as possible, dont debate it or wait on it, do it now!
It depends on the location of the piercing. It must be fully healed and then some. They'll usually tell you 6-8 weeks for earrings and at least 2 months for tongue piercings. It depends on the piercing you get :)
You can eat them (CAREFULLY) after the swelling goes down; be sure to rinse your mouth out & keep it clean.
The best and safest thing to do is to go and get another thread on ball or replacement barbell from any professional body piercing studio, you don't want to screw around with your tongue piercing. Get a replacement ball on as soon as possible.
If you decide you no longer want the piercing that is fine. Never remove a piercing till it has fully healed. The Tonga is a muscle and requires adequate healing time do not remove for 3 to 6 months. It will try to heal as soon as you remove it, as well as cause major infection if you take it in and out. It is an open wound and the mouth is a dirty place...
In 16 years I have never had any one's tongue tip change color, so this leads me to believe there are some serious issues going on with your tongue piercing. Best see your doctor as soon as possible.
well i am 13 yearsof age and when i got my piercing done (Madonna) it did not hurt, it made my eyes water . but that's about it. illl soon be gettin m,y tongue pierced. if my lip hurt then why would i get another piercing?? lol. oh well but no it doe not hurt
I would worry about getting another barbell as soon as possible, using anything else could pose a choking hazard.
Because the tonuge is a muscle, it heals up as soon as you take it out, so i would recomend you keep it in, even if it is healed.
Well that's not uncommon and will ease off and stop as soon as the body can heal the cut vessels in your tongue. You want to keep talking down to a minimum for the next while to let the piercing heal.
You should probably wait another week or so. You have gaps in your gums where your wisdom teeth were, and those gaps are highly susceptible to infection at first. If you were to get an infection there, it would be very painful and could cause further problems. Getting your tongue piercing exposes your mouth to new issues. The actual piercing could infect it - it can get pretty germ-y in your mouth. Also, you'll be in pain from the piercing, at least for the first few days - are you up to that so soon?
You're not supposed to change a fresh tongue piercing for two weeks. Tongue piercings are among some of the fastest healing piercings, but you don't want to change it too soon. If you change it too soon, chances are it will swell up again. If you put a shorter bar in your mouth, it will not be able to handle the swelling. I would recommend waiting at least a week and a half, but two weeks is best.
