I don't know about being a home remedy, but this works for me. -I put brushes like that in a pot of almost boiling vinegar for about an hour (-yes, I only do this while my wife's at work - LOL) then take them outside and scrub them with a strong wire brush away from the handle. After getting the bulk of dried paint off, I soak them in lacquer thinner, then scrape again. Almost always cleans every brush.
Let it dry well first. When dry a week or so remove it with a wire brush.
The water in the latex paint will soften the bristles of a brush intended for oil paint, so it is not a good idea.
