make sure the leak is not coming from above the starter, like from the valve cover gasket, if it isn`t then it probably is the rear crankshaft seal which would require the removal of the tranny to replace.
No they do not require you mess with them when new.
My Proton had a rubber insert in the head gasket which leaked. Oil ran out between head and cylinder. Occured at 45k miles. Solution was a new gasket. A local motor parts shop supplied an oil additive to prevent a reoccurance.
I just removed a 1.7 Diesel starter motor. ALLWAYS DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (10 mm) Remove top half of inlet manifold (8mm 12sided socket or spanner) Undo the two plastic bolts on the expansion tank (water bottle. 10mm) Move tank out the way Look down onto starter motor; remove bolt on which goes through bell housing into starter motor (16mm ) Jack car up; from underneath look up to starter motor, remove bolt which goes through the starter into gearbox (15mm) Remove nut from starter solenoid (little part of starter motor. 13 mm) Undo Philips bolt and disconnect wire You have removed your starter motor
You don't. Starter fluid is a really good way to damage the motor inside because it created far more pressure than the motor is designed for. It's best to find and fix the problem rather than use the fluid. You would put starter fluid in the gas tank.
I wouldn't recommend it. Replace the gasket.
Rear main seal.
no the oil will not drain out if you remove starter starter does not mount inside engine. it mountst at side of engine and intobell housing. there is no oil in there unless you have a major, major oil leak
No, the oil is more than likely from a leaking rear main seal or from the valve cover which may appear to be leaking at the starter. The starter uses no oil so it cannot leak oil.
It might happen because of a faulty starter gasket. :)
The starter should be tight! It can cause an oil leak if it hits the oil filter and makes a hole in it (oil filter is like a coke can). If your starter is moving you must first tighten it down it's two bolts.
u may want to find out if there an oil sensor above ur starter.i know on my car.i had a stream coming from above the starter and it was the oil pressure sensor.
you have an oil leak which is leaking down into your starter causing it to not operate. fix your oil leak clean out the oil from the starter, put the starter back on and everything will be everything
That depends on where the oil leak is, is it in the motor self or is one of the seals leaking?
It might happen because of a faulty starter gasket.
10 W-40 motor oil can be used in your Subaru, with a minor oil leak. The heavier oil will not hurt your engine and may slow down the leak.
No, oil doesn't come out of the starter, either your distributor plug is leaking or you are leaking oil out of your front valve cover.
Front side of motor, bottom of block, between oil pan and exhaust.
