The starter is located underneath the engine about in the middle. It's best if you hoist up the car and use jack stands for safety. Remove battery ground (negative terminal) cable. There are two 13mm bolts that hold the starter motor to the engine. You may need to remove an oxygen sensor if it's in your way. Otherwise, remove starter cable (red) from the starter motor and then remove two bolts. To install, repeat the following in reverse order. Torque specs on the starter motor bolts is 20-27 Nm (15-20 lb-ft), and starter motor cable 8-12.4 Nm (70-110 lb-in).

this indicates that the spindle on the starter motor isn't engaing forwards properly, this can sometimes be easily reactified by removing the starter motor, and giving it a clean, small amount of grease and a good old tap with a lump hammer should reslove the problem. This is however not a permant fix and you will need to have the starter reconditioned or fit a new one completeley......................................!
