somethings not hooked up right, why did you change the ignition switch...were there any burnt wires? Which fuse? Which circuit? When you disconnect the components controlled byt the fuse is the gas gauge normal? Wiring diagrams and procedures are in a shop manual available at your local library...good luck...

GM have the codes. these keys and codes are very very expensive to replace GM seems to think if you can afford a key with a chip, u have lots of money
With some modifications anything could happen but is better if you get the dash wiring for the 79 firebird.

For the most part yes almost everything bolts up the same except for the valance where it attaches to the fenders. 74 and older fenders have to have a bracket installed on the lower section in order to hold the valance.

On the top side of the steering column about halfway down, the high beam/low beam headlight switch should be bolted to the column right beside it. Inside the vehicle.

You can replace the ignition lock cylinder in your 1994 Pontiac Firebird without removing the steering will. Remove the retaining ring at the top of the ignition cylinder. The ignition cylinder will slide out.
The gears in your headlight motor are actually grinding. My 2000 firebird did that. I just replaced the headlight motor. You can get replacement motors at pretty much any autopart store for around $50.00.
Go to Autozone, tell them the car year, make, model etc. They will give you the right number for the headlight; even if you don't buy them there.
