How do you change starter on ranger 2002?

Jack and support front or use ramps to elevate front of vehicle. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove electrical connections and then the mounting bolts, be careful, the starter is very heavy. Align and install mounting bolts, then reconnect electrical connectors, and reinstall negative battery cable. It might be a good time to disconnect the positive battery terminal as well, use a terminal cleaner to clean the battery terminals, the insides of the clamps, then spread dielectric grease over terminal, reconnect all and snug.

What side does electrons flow from in a battery?

Outside the battery:The path for conventional current goes from the positive terminal (+, usually a red wire) to the negative terminal (−, usually a black wire).A wire's electrons flow from the negative (−) terminal to the positive (+) terminal.Since the current forms a continuous a loop in the same direction, the direction inside the battery is "backwards".Inside the battery:Conventional current flows from the negative (−) terminal to the positive (+) terminal.Positive ions flow from the negative (−) terminal to the positive (+) terminal.Negative ions flow from the positive(+) terminal to the negative (−) terminalConventional current assumes that all flowing charges are positive. It simplifies the situation because it hides the more complicated electrons, positive ions, and negative ions.

What is the procedure of the baterry?

The vehicle battery's main purpose is to supply power for the starting system and to power some accessories when the engine is not running. The proper procedure for changing or installing a battery... remove the battery cable first from the negative battery terminal, then from the positive. Install opposite, attach the positive cable lead, then the negative.

How do you hook cables to battery?

you hook the positive cable,(usually the red) to the positive battery terminal first then you hook the negative cable(usually black) to the negative terminal if you hook it the other way you can get sparks or arcing that can cause damage or a fire PS: if both cables are same color, the negative cable is the one bolted to the frame or the engine.the poitive is bolted to the solenoid or starter

What color is positive on a car battery?

Normally red or brown. The battery has a + stamped into it by the positive terminal. Follow the wires, on a modern car the positive will go to the alternator and starter. The negative wire (easier to follow) will go to the body/engine block
