It's my understanding that there are techtonic plates within the earth's crust that will occasionally shift and cause geological disturbances. Volcanoes erupt when the shifts are deep enough to disturb the earth's core and superheated lava escapes through tunnels like "sink holes" to the surface. Likewise, a shift may result in other shifts making the terrain unstable resulting in an "earthquake" Frodo

The place where two plates move past each other is often an area of faults. the ground can shake drastically as plates slide past each other. This can cause a powerful earthquake. Earthquakes are also caused by volcanic activity

I only know one.. The reason why it does that is the tectonic plates slide past each other which causes vibrations thus... Making an earthquake which goes BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM CRACK CRACK CRACK CRACK

The main source of earthquakes are the sudden, intense shifts along already formed faults, because since most earthquakes occur around plate boundaries these faults start to create fault zones.

What are some causes of earthquakes?

If seen broadly we can say that earthquakes are caused due to two major reasons. The first reason is the eruption of volcanoes, which are sudden, and as is known volcanoes are seat of inner disturbance and can effect the plates which is the second cause of earthquakes. Earthquakes are caused due to disturbance in the movement of plates, which again can be caused due to various reasons like under crust waves or cracks in the plates.
