There are over a hundred different forms of arthritis and the effect that these have on the body vary greatly. However nearly all of them start of by having pain or inflammation or causing damage to the joints of the body. Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent form of arthritis and this is a condition that is generally caused by wear and tear or damage caused by trauma in accident's. the older you get the more likely you are to have a problem with osteoarthritis's. Rheumatoid arthritis is another form of Arthritis, however this is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks joint tissues leading to the destruction of joints and other tissue. Gout is another form of arthritis cause by the formation of uric acid crystals in the blood stream as a result of too much uric acid building up. These fine sharp crystals get into the joints (especially of the extremity's) and cause extreme pain and malformation as well as being able to bring about damage to other parts of the body such as the kidneys.
