The word thermometer is a noun.
It is dangerous if you swallow it but just getting some into your mouth is fine. I'm sure it tastes awful. rinse your mouth out with water and mouth wash and make sure to spit it all out and not swallow.
A dry and wet bulb thermometer works via being moisturized in conjunction with a wet cotton swab which would evaporate. From there, the temperatures are recorded before more recordings for other temperatures are done with a psychometric chat regarding one's findings with the dry and wet bulb thermometer.
Rubbing alcohol is a good liquid to use in a simple thermometer because it expands when heat ia added to it. When cold temperatures are added to it, it regroupes.
Why would you think Earth Day is dangerous? I mean, no holidays are dangerous..........
Because that will mess with the temperature reading on the thermometer. And it would be dangerous if the thermometer is broken as there are dangerous chemicals (i.e.mercury) inside.
Any thermometer with mercury in it.
You should not leave a meat thermometer in the turkey while it cooks. This is very dangerous and should be avoided.
no I don't think so.
Galileo made the thermometer in 1593.
It is a very good idea for the thermometer manufacturer, but it is a very bad idea for you because the thermometer bulb may blow out and release the dangerous mercury stored inside.
It is mercury and dangerous. If you have some you got from a thermometer, you might want to read this link: http://www2.state.tn.us/health/FactSheets/mercury.htm
If you're the one designing the thermometer, you could make it longer or make the bore wider. If you've got an existing thermometer, there's not much you can do.
Modern thermometers don't use mercury, they use a colored alcohol solution... and yes it would be dangerous.
Galileo Galilei made a water thermometer in 1593.
use a thermometer. We can feel how hot or cold something is. However, sometimes things are just too hot or cold for us to feel safely. At other times we need to know exactly how hot or cold something is. When we need to measure temperature correctly we need to use an instrument called a thermometer. This measures temperature in degrees Celsius [sometimes called centigrade] or degrees Fahrenheit. There are different types of thermometers for different situations. A medical thermometer, for example, needs to be very accurate. It measures in fractions of degrees. When we are ill, even tiny changes in temperature are important. Some thermometers use a liquid that moves up a very fine glass tube. Most room thermometers, and outdoor thermometers are like this. The liquid is either mercury [ which is poisonous] or coloured alcohol. As liquids get warmer they expand [get bigger], and move up the tube. Water expands too, but not as much as alcohol and mercury. Thermometers that might be used by small children are not made of glass. They use a digital display which lights up the temperature. Inside the displays are chemicals that change colour according to the temperature.
