The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is located in the drivers side, back end (tail shaft housing) of the transmission. It is where they used to have the speedometer cable attached but now it's electronic.
A Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) senses the speed of the vehicle. Used for automatic transmission shift points and other electronics. Another speed sensor would be a wheel speed sensor. This one monitors wheel speed for ABS and Traction control.
96 and new vehicles use air idle control valve, idle air control sensor, or something to the nature
The speed sensor (transmission revolution sensor) is located on the left side of the bellhousing near the top. Access is through the driver's side wheel well. I'm at the wheel well and i cant see the speed sensor
If the speedometer/odometer is working, chances are the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is good.
P0500 means that the vehicles speed as read by the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is not being measured properly. Most likely either the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is not working properly or there is a malfunctioning wire leading to the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). You might notice a loss of anti-lock braking capability, the speedometer might not be working, or your automatic transmission might behave erratically.
Vehicle Speed Sensor
The Vehicle Speed Sensor or VSS is connected to the transaxle by one bolt. The speedometer Control Cable feeds into it at one end and the Speedometer Driven Gear is at the other end.

On the top of the transmission
If you are refering to the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) it is on tranny by where the axles are
where is the speed sensor for lincoln navigator
Depends on the make/model/year of the vehicle
There's the Vehicle Speed Sensor... your cruise control is a matter of programming in the ECM.
The cruise control on a Lincoln allows the vehicle to be operated at a steady speed over long distances. It is programmed by the driver to allow for the gas to be vehicle controlled.
No it does not.
on the transmission drivers side towards the rear
The Chevy Avalanche typically has two speed sensors: one in the transmission and another in the rear differential. The transmission speed sensor monitors the vehicle's speed and helps with shifting, while the rear differential speed sensor provides information for the vehicle's stability control and anti-lock braking system. In some models, there may also be a third sensor related to the wheel speed for traction control.
