it is for traction control. Since firebirds are rear wheel drive and the engine is in the front our tires like to spin in the rain, snow, or on a clear day. the switch puts your car into 2nd gear. the higher the gear, the lower amount of tourqe, the lower chance of your wheels spinning.

What is when a Kia Rio 2001 the transmission is hold in park and the instrument panel is not indicate nothing and it's happen in the same time?

More than likely the shifter is bad. On the right front of the shifter is a small plastic cover. About the size of a pea. Pull this cover up and inset a small flathead screwdriver in. Push it down and then you should ne able to get it out of park. You will need to do this every time until you get the shifter fixed.

That knob is to control your heaters. Turn it left to let in more warm air, and turn it right to turn it off.

On a 1998 firebird v6 Shifting in and out off park is hard or gets stuck what can cause this?

Sorry to not have the answer, but i am going through this exact same thing right now. Same year, make, and is also a v6. I can get it to shift out of park only on occasion when hitting the break at just the perfect time as i push the knob in and pull the shifter back all simultaneously. Usually takes about 20 minutes to get it right though and sometimes doesn't work at all. Try it.....but like me you either need a new steering column or the sensor from the brake isn't working properly. Believe me though, i feel your pain.

92 Legacy sedan has the word Manu lit up on the dash to the right of the word Power just under the gear selection list on the dash What does this mean Even the dealer is stumped?

Does this vehicle have a floor shifter? With a button within easy reach of your thumb while your hand is on the shifter? Or is it a column shift, and is there a button on the end of the shift knob? If it is the floor shift model, I believe this is a light that indicates you have entered into 'manual shift' mode. Which means you can shift your automatic transmission manually from first gear through to third or fourth(overdrive). If you have this button, push it and see if the 'MANU' light goes off. If it does, you will now be operating in automatic mode and can simply put it in DRIVE and go. If you put it in DRIVE while MANU is lit, and the car feels sluggish and underpowered, it is because you are in manual mode and starting out from a stop in third or fourth gear...which would be reason enough to think your car may be lazy. Hope this helps.

Shifter Assy has a cover with just clips. stick a flat screw driver and pop it open. remove the ashtray wire and look on the passender side of the shifter their is a small bar that when you push the button INN on the shifter moves. usually this small rod (Bar) will move to the driver side move it left and right to find the correct possition and release the shiter. Eventuly you will have to replace the whole shifter Assy.

What could be wrong if a 1993 Corolla is locked in park and keeps blowing 15 amp fuses?

I had the same problem with my old 91 Carolla. Check the shift assist button in the front left of your shifter. I might be jammed or stuck which could be the cause of your locked up shifter. As for fuses, are you putting the right amped fuse in the right position?
