There are those that believe that the Last Supper was a Passover Seder. There is scant evidence for, and much evidence against this idea. For one thing, if Jesus had just finished his Seder, the Court (Sanhedrin) would not be in session--it did not meet on Sabbaths or Holy days, and never at night; thus, no actions could have been taken against him.

Yes they are related. Remember, Jesus would have followed the law of Moses and would therefore have partaken in all of the Lord Feasts that the Jews (and some Christians) still celebrate today.

In other words, he would have not only celebrated Passover, but also the other feasts - and indeed the Last Supper was Jesus' celebration of the Passover supper.

It is important to Christians because this festival season (Passover supper and the following eight days of unleavened bread) point to the crucifixion and resurrection of the Messiah, Jesus.

No. They happened on the same night, but were very separate celebrations.
History:
The Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) tell mankind about human history, why we are in the mess we're in, and point forward to the coming of Messiah, who would one day destroy the cause of sin(Genesis 3:15/Hebrews 2:14+15), and bring things back to God's original purpose here on earth (Genesis 1:28/Matthew 6:10/Psalm 37:10+11/Matthew 5:5/1 Corinthians 15:28/Colossians 1:20).
The 'Passover' was the tenth plague against Egypt, where all the first born of both man and animal, died at the hands of God's angel(Exodus 12:1-30). However, the angel 'passed over' the houses of those who'd put lamb's blood on their doorposts. A test of obedience. It was the 'blood of the lamb' that saved their families(Hebrews 11:28), and this, of course, was also prophetic, pointing toward the coming Messiah (the Lamb of God) who's bones would not be broken(Numbers 9:12/John 19:33+36), and who's blood would be poured out for our salvation (John 1:29)(1 Corinthians 5:7)(1 Peter 1:19)(Isaiah 53:11/Hebrews 9:14). The celebration of 'Passover' was to be a reminder of Israel's release from captivity in Egypt at God's hand(Exodus 12:40-42), and to point forward to the ultimate release of mankind from sin by Messiah. When Jesus came as a perfect man, righteous and upright, upholding God's laws and principals and teaching the truth, he showed himself to be the promised Messiah.
On Passover night, after he'd obediently celebrated the Passover with his apostles, Jesus instituted 'The Lord's Evening Meal' (the Last Supper) as a covenant with those of his soon-to-be-'anointed' followers, where he passed the unleavened bread (representing his body) and introduced wine as a symbol of his blood that would be poured out(Luke 22:14-20). He told them to 'do THIS in remembrance of me' , just as the Passover had previously been done once a year since Israel came out of Egypt. When Jesus died, he became the 'Passover lamb' and fulfilled the Messianic prophecies(Colossians 2:13+14/Matthew 5:17+18/Romans 7:6). Once fulfilled, the need for Passover ended and a NEW remembrance, the "Lord's Evening Meal", would start, as it pointed forward to the next event....Jesus coming in kingdom power . Each year it is celebrated by many on the evening of (Abib)Nisan 14 on the ancient Hebrew calendar, which is the first full moon after the Spring Equinox (or 14 days after the new moon, as seen from Jerusalem). Christians are to keep this commemoration until 'the Kingdom of God arrives'(Luke 22:18).

What is the difference between Passover and last supper?

In the synoptic gospels, the Last Supper was on the day of the Jewish Passover feast, so we can say that Jesus and the disciples were partaking of the Passover feast. In John's Gospel, the crucifixion was on the day of preparation for the Passover, so John does not describe a Last Supper, saying just that on evening before, when their supper was ended, Jesus washed the feet of the apostles.

Which Gospels include the Last Supper?

The Last Supper was the Passover feast and appears in the Synoptic gospels, Matthew, Mark and Luke, because Passover occurred on the Thursday before the crucifixion. In John's Gospel, the Passover was on the Friday of the crucifixion, so there is no Last Supper recorded, instead Jesus washed the feet of the disciples.
