∙ 11y agoThere is a full spectrum of opinions in the Democratic Party. Some, such as the President and Vice President, favor legalization of same-sex marriage. Others, favor granting same-sex couples the same legal rights as marriage, but calling it "civil unions." Others favor banning same-sex marriage in their own state. Still others favor banning same-sex marriage in the entire country. Many Democrats, however, hold an opinion closer to that of the president. The other end of the spectrum is, typically, occupied more by Republicans than Democrats.
