If it's a single piece driveshaft, remove the 4 bolts that hold the U joints to the differential pinion gear. If it's a 2 piece driveshaft, remove the 2 bolts that hold the center carrier bearing to the truck frame first.

Easy, step one: loosen the idler wheel tensioners. #2 remove the bolts that hold the skid to the tunnel and remove skid #3 remove chaincase cover and driveshaft bearing #4 remove speedometer cable from clutch side driveshaft bearing cover and driveshaft bearing #5 slide driveshaft towards chaincase enough to slide the track out.

you can remove the cv halfshafts and the front axle driveshaft then drop the differential assy down to access the pan. its not all that easy one way or the other. with a lift it is easier to drop the axle.
The seal should run about 10 dollars or less. The mechanic shouldn't charge more than 40 dollars or so. It is a pretty easy job. Buy the seal, remove the driveshaft, knock the seal out, replace it with the new one and reinstall the driveshaft. Piece of cake. good luck.
