The type of topographical map referred to is known as a relief map or raised-relief map. These maps use shadowing to simulate texture and terrain three-dimensionally.
This management practice reduces risk of erosion by tilling and planting across (i.e., following the curvature of the land), rather than up and down. Planting done along the contour reduces water erosion by enhancing water infiltration. Water infiltration is enhanced because the contour planting is perpendicular to the slope, slowing water velocity, and allowing more of the water to soak into the ground. If the contour is perpendicular to the prevailing wind, wind erosion is also reduced.
Impressionist art does not focus on light, shading brush strokes or the depiction of real life. Rather, Impressionist art is composed of very obvious brush strokes and the vague idea of shapes and forms.

Art Theory is like Music Theory.. a non-sequitor. Theory implies that there is a "science" to them, and while that is very loosely true, most art and music is a result of subjective tastes. That being said, art theory is the study of technique, medium, and style used by artists to create certain affects or feels. Just as one minor (and rather superficial example) in an art theory class you might study the use of shading to create the illusion of shadow and depth in a drawing.
A relief map differs from an ordinary map in that it shows hills and valleys with shading rather than the standard contour lines you would get on an OS Map. So the purpose of them is to make it easier for people to get an idea of what the terrain is like realtively quickly. With a relief map it is much easier to visualise the terrain. Contour lines are more specific and are generally used where more careful and accurate planning is required. -Often referred to as raised relief maps these maps still depict hills and valleys with different colours of shading but also, as the name suggests, are 3-dimensional. They are often used for educational purposes as well as home / office decoration.
because the river beside it flows and it makes a u shape

Plateaus are large fairly plat pieces of uplifted land surrounded by steep slopes. A landform can be identified as a plateau when the contour lines are quite close to each other all around while on the upper slopes there are no lines or hardly any lines signifying that the top is rather flat.
Contour ploughing or contour farming is the farming practice of ploughing and/or planting across a slope following its elevation contour lines. These contour lines create a water break which reduces the formation of rills and gullies during times of heavy water run-off; which is a major cause of soil erosion. The water break also allows more time for the water to settle into the soil. In contour plowing, the ruts made by the plow run perpendicular rather than parallel to slopes, generally resulting in furrows that curve around the land and are level. This method is also known for preventing tillage erosion.Source-Wikipedia

They're referenced by showing features in their relative positions rather than as isolated details on the drawing.
It depends on which way the contour lines bend. For example, if the bend was facing northeast then the stream flows Northeast. the bend is this if you don't understand... -_- -> ) +++ I'm afraid your illustration is rather ambiguous. If you imagine the contour lines to trace a parenthese as you've used, the concave side would face downstream: Flow ---> then the contour is ( ---> Or if you think of the contours tracing a capital letter U with its open end pointing North, the stream will flow North. A better way to understand it is to study the countour lines and streams on a map, especially if of an area you know well!
The Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique is a front-wheel drive, transverse engine car. In other words, the engine is mounted "sideways" in the front of the car, and drives the front, rather than the rear wheels. The transmission (or, more properly, the "transaxle") is bolted to the engine on the left side of the engine compartment. It contains the transmission itself, along with the differential.
pop the trunk and there is padding against the rear wall, where the brake lights are located. the padding should just fold down and you can take out the socket and replace the bulb rather easily
The river valleys broadened as they flowed east out of the western mountains, and so supported the burgeoning population and growing cities there.
