Sounds like bad battery connections, clean and tighten them and try again. Have the battery checked if no luck ++ Loose connections ++ This just happened to my laguna. The two connections giving power to the starter motor were loose. Couple of quick turns and it fired up first time. Took an hour to get to it as it's buried deep in the engine.
The starter is located just behind the top end of the engine. I have a '99 king quad. Mine solenoid clicks too. I thought it was a loose wire because sometimes it would turn over but I took it in and was told i need a new stARter. they run about $75.
replace your starter assembly
start with checking the battery, next check the solenoid, next check the starter motor.then check ignition switch
Could be,low battery, loose or dirty battery connections, starter is bad, starter solenoid is bad, neutral safety switch bad or out of adjustment, starter relay is bad,
It could be the battery. If not try tapping the starter with a hammer. Not hard enough to crack the housing but hard enough that it might unstick the starter from the flywheel. If this works you might want to change the starter. If not it would have to be the solenoid.
sounds like your in the market for a starter.
Sounds like the starter relay is going out.
Weak battery Loose or corroded battery cables
my understanding is plenum needs to be removed, and exhaust manifold to acsess the starter, mine clicks sometimes and needs changing also...

Starter solenoid? Battery not fully charged?
Try changing the starter.
If it is a v6 motor left side of trans on starter if it clicks when trying to start sometimes you can peck on starter motor to get started but will stop working again will need replaced
the engine will turn over but sometimes wont start. it also sometimes dies while its idling. whats going on
It will probably be your starter motor Starter is out!
bad solenoid in the starter or insufficient voltage to the starter
replace your starter assembly
