If the Power Steering pump seized up you will want to replace the pump as one unit. You will probably have to swap your old ps pulley over to the new pump. This is done with a special ps pulley puller/installer. Your local auto parts store can help you with that. Follow directions that come with the new pump to flush the system with clean ps fluid.
Power assist steering and Power Steering are the same thing, just difrent names from difrent Manufacturers.
Yes.It can be converted . You will need to install a power assisted steering rack, power steering pump, belts and hoses.
could be several places, power steering hose, rack and pinion (or steering gear box) or power steering pump.
Its at the back and below the engine.. to fill it pull the dipstick marked POWER STEERING which is at the back of the engine to the left of the airfilter box.. and add fluid to the level marks on the dipstick
First thing to assess is the power steering fluid. More than likely you are low or empty and thus, the ability to be agile with the wheels has become difficult. secondly, if the first is not the problem, then i would assess the power steering pump. These do go out at about 45-60K miles on most American made cars. So, this could be the second thing to rule out. third is the rack and pinion, the steering column down to the axle and then out to the tires should be assessed for leaks, no compression, etc. Hopefully this helps you out.
Was there any fluid leakage? if so, may have blown a high pressure line, if not, the bearings in your pump may have seized, undo the belt off the power steering pump, can you rotate the pulley by hand on the pump? If not, likely the bearings seized. If you can rotate it without a herculean effort, check your lines and fittings for any wear or loose connections. I'm assuming the popping noise originated from under the hood.
Bearing seized on the pump.
most likely blown seals or seized valves in the steering rack.
Your power steering units pulley has worn or broken bearings. This can harm your vehicle, suggest you have it replaced.
Check out the bearings in the steering column and the knuckles in the steering shaft
I dont know try POWER STEERING FLUID
It could be from worn bearings on the shaft that the pulley turns.
There are 3 things that can happen when you lose power steering. #1 there is not enough power steering fluid, there might be a leek in the system. #2 The belt that connects to the power steering pump has come off. #3 The beerings in the power steering system has seized, usually only happens if the car is very old.
It could be your power steering pump, check power steering level. Also could be alternator or AC bearings.
the power to the jet drive is required to maintain steering control on a PWC
The characteristics of a power steering hose is it is a hard rubber thick enough to hold the fluid needed to make the power steering work.
mine needed power steering fluid
