None really. You could put a intake and an exhaust on it. that's about it. they were well built engines that gm never took interest in. If you want to tune your skylark get a pre-series II motor. Its supercharged and usually bolts up perfectly to the motor and trans mount. (back transmission mounts might need a little fabrication)

It is located underneath the back of the engine. You can only see it from underneath the car as it is nestled up a bit. Haven't changed mine yet, but I would imagine its like any other starter.

First check for fire at any of the sparkplugs and if you have spark then check your fuel pressure and if its not within specs then replace the pump.
