Obviously, you want your rocket to fin to have the most effect while minimizing drag.
IM ASSUMING YOUR USING A 1 LITRE SODA BOTTLE
4 fins are usually the most efficient. you want them slender and long, extending past the thrusting end of the bottle. for width, i made mine 30 degrees from straight down, 6 inches long, and tapered. and it worked fairly well. instead of a launch tube, i used a guide rod. i got a pair of four foot steel rods that were thin but strong. on the sides of the bottle i taped straws.
here is a good picture for an example of fins. also has good info about center of mass and stuff
good luck

Nothing should happen at all if it just slips. If it comes off it could possibly bend some of the fins but it is unlikely since there is a fan and shroud in the way.
Your surfboard fins are an essential ingredient to wave riding. Fins make the board go straight and enable you to turn. It seems like such a simple concept, but fin science can get rather complicated! Don't let it overwhelm you. This fin guide will help you figure out how they work and how to optimize your own setup.Surfboard fins have gone through a number of different style changes and technological advancements over the course of surfing history. Until the 1990's, fin design was mostly ignored. Today, however, fin science is almost overflowing with information and innovation. The first surfers didn't have the advantage of fins…they controlled their boards by dragging one foot in the water! In 1935, Tom Blake introduced his nub keel fin and the rest is history. There are many types of surfboard fins on the market today, from removable models to the glass-on variety. At the most basic level, you have two options of fins: Glass-Ons and Removable Fins. After that, there are other options within each category to consider.Glass On FinsAlmost considered a throwback, glass-on fins are becoming more and more rare as removable fin systems gradually take over the market.Removable Fin SystemsRemovable fin systems are the current popular choice among shapers and riders. The ability to remove and change fin templates has ushered in a whole new way to customize your board and improve your riding.
Draw an oval that is longer than it is wide, then add triangle for fins and tail then close to where you draw the eyes and mouth, but not to close draw three curved lines for the gills

the best fins for a bottle rocket is having four fins located at the bottom of your bottle rocket the shape of long triangles ! ! ! :) hope it helps !
Not really the shape, but things like large fins or wings can be knocked off in hard landings.
A water rocket should probably have three to four fins.
That is the front of the fins
Balsa fins refer to the fins that are made for model rocketry and are cut from balsa wood. These are glued or cemented onto the base of the cylindrical part of the rocket. They are crucial to the flight stability of the rocket.
about one-forth of the height of the size of the rocket.
They hold everything together, the fins, the motor and the nose.
You use fins and a nose cone on a bottle rocket because the cone reduces the drag on the rocket, and the fins help stabilize the rocket.
Because it is light weight, and easy to fold into the fin shape.
It Can Cause The Rocket To Spin Out, and/or wobble of course
Fins on a rocket affects its flight by the way they are built on the rocket
