Kashmir was so badly affected by the earthquake that happened there in 2005 because the country was not prepared for the earthquake and since aid was slow to arrive there this affected millions of people living there as many suffered and died and by the fact that the amount of damage caused by the earthquake was so severe it will take a long time for Kashmir to recover and get back to normal again.

The earthquake was one of the most seriouse ones that has ever occured it killed in the millions and deeply affected countries around it ):
It was a pretty terrible event that affected thousands of people. It can be confusing talking about the magnitude of an earthquake as different countries can use different scales (Japan uses a different one from the international standard as one example). The 28 March earthquake was Magnitude 8.6 as measured in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia at 4.09 pm in 2005. The extra energy release to go further up the scale is exponential (meaning that a magnitude 2 earthquake is much more than double the energy of a magnitude 1 earthquake).
2004 Indian Ocean M9.1 ~230,000 dead 2008 Sichuan (China) M7.9 ~88,000 dead 2005 Kashmir (Pakistan) M7.6 ~86,000 dead 2003 Bam (Iran) M6.6 ~31,000 dead 2001 Gujarat (India) M7.7 ~20,000 dead Also 2011 Japan M8.9
